Majestic yet elegant - Birding for Great Bustard

After seeing that bird fly, you may wonder if "pigs can fly" or even elephants...

The adult male Great Bustard is one of the heaviest living flying birds, with a wingspan that may exceed 2.5 meters. They are able to lift an average of 12 kg of body mass, with some recorded as carrying over 18 kg. Their airborne progress is slow and majestic, but the force with which they fly leaves aerodynamic statistics behind.

Great Bustards, Otis tarda, can be seen walking through the lush green grass of Alentejo in the end of summer
